Whether you use them for rapid stock removal or flattening your water stones, Atoma Diamond Plates have impressive qualities that differentiate them from other diamond sharpening stones. The clusters of monocrystalline diamonds are laid out in a pattern on the surface of a stainless steel sheet instead of randomly coating the plate. This arrangement creates an even, fast cutting surface that is more aggressive. The geometric patterning creates channels between the clusters for waste material to collect, minimizing clogging and hydraulic lock. The stainless steel sheets are mounted to a 10mm aluminum plate with an overall flatness within 0.04mm. While the Atoma Plates are quite durable, the diamond covered sheets are replaceable. You can also purchase an additional sheet in a different grit and attach it to the other side of your Atoma Plate, creating a combination plate.
